Everyone is an extremist... except for me.

There is an ongoing push to label views contrary to the mainstream left as “right wing extremism.” Does right wing extremism exist? Yes. However, when you decide that mostly everything is extreme, you need to look in the mirror and see if it’s a case of “it’s not you, it’s me.”

I think we can all agree that we want the best for kids, whether they are our own or others. None of us wants to see kids left out in any way, shape, or form. The issue is who determines what is best for a child? Is it the teacher, guidance counselor, principal, school board or superintendent? According to a 2021 Gallup poll, about three in four Americans identify with a specific religious faith. Why is this important? It shows that most people have a moral direction which helps shape their world view. This world view gives a moral compass for parents to make decisions for their children. We do not need government intervention. The further the government stays away, the better off we all are. Let us be FREE to make our own decisions.

Tonight, we heard from Kim Barbaro of the Northern Bucks Democratic Committee on the topic of “Understanding the Danger of Moms for Liberty.” I do not claim to be an expert on the Moms for Liberty organization by any means; however, let us look at some information and quotes from their very own website. “Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom" – John Adams. “Moms for Liberty welcomes all that have a desire to stand up for parental rights at all levels of government”. Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.” Finally, their Parent Pledge: “I pledge to honor the fundamental rights of parents including, but not limited to the right to direct the education, medical care, and moral upbringing of their children. I pledge to advance policies that strengthen parental involvement and decision-making, increase transparency, defend against government overreach, and secure parental rights at all levels of government.” Who can argue about parental rights? It is the parent’s right to raise their child in a way in which their convictions lead them. A school has no place to keep secrets from a parent, and yes, “All administrations should be questioned.”

We were told that “being called by preferred pronouns is an act of respect.” I beg to differ. Why is it anyone's responsibility to conform to how you decide to identify? We have this new idea where everyone needs to be “affirmed.” This practice is creating a weak society. No one is responsible for affirming anyone. It is a choice. If I do not agree with your choice, I am not going to affirm it. To say this is an act of disrespect is extremism.

We were told that “We are in a mental health crisis with our kids.” You are 100% right, and how we deal with it will determine what our society will look like 10-20 years from now. We need to work with some kids to get to the root of why they are not comfortable in their own skin. Kids go through stages in life. Kids are trying to decide who they are. What happens down the road when your very affirmation leads to the regret of a decision that is irreversible? We need to tackle this issue head-on with counseling.

Parents need to be directly involved in any decision regarding their children. If this is extremism, then I guess I am an extremist. Any child under the age of 18 should not have the ability to make a life-altering decision without a parent’s consent.

School should be a place of learning. A place where we are preparing our children for the world of tomorrow. It should be a place where the main focus is challenging students to be the best they can be. It should be a place where we make friends and memories that will last a lifetime. It should be a place where we learn how to make a better tomorrow.

Remember, elections have consequences. As we move towards the general election in November, we will be voting for new school board members. How you vote will determine how funds get appropriated, what programs will be put in place, where our tax dollars go, etc.

Vote for those who want to see our children succeed!
